1 Paul and Silas and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 a Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are always bound to thank God for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward one another abounds,
4 so that b we ourselves glory in you among the churches of God c for your patience and faith d in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure.
5 This is e manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God so that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, f for which you also suffer.
6 g For it is a just thing with God to repay tribulation to those who trouble you,
7 and to give you who are afflicted h rest with us when i the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels
8 in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 j These will be punished with everlasting destruction away from the presence of the Lord and away k from the glory of His power,
10 when He will come in that day l to be m glorified in His saints and to be admired in all those who have believed, because our testimony among you was believed.
11 Therefore, we also pray always for you so that our God would n count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of goodness and o the work of faith with power,
12 p so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Now we urge you, brethren, a by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ b and our gathering together unto Him,
2 c that you not be quickly shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, as though the day of the Lord has come.
3 Let no one deceive you by any means, for that day will not come d unless there first come a falling away, and that e the man of lawlessness is revealed, f the son of destruction,
4 who opposes and g exalts himself h above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
6 And now you know what holds him back that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For i the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, j whom the Lord will consume k with the breath of His mouth and will destroy l with the brightness of His presence.
9 The presence of the lawless one is m according to the working of Satan with all deceiving power and n signs and wonders,
10 and with all deception of wickedness among o those who perish, because they did not receive p the love of the truth so that they might be saved.
11 And q for this reason God will send them strong delusion r so that they should believe a lie,
12 that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but s took pleasure in wickedness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has t from the beginning u chosen you for salvation v through sanctification of spirit and belief in the truth,
14 to which He called you by our gospel, to w the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, x stand firm and hold y the traditions that you were taught, whether by word or our letter.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, z who has loved us and given us everlasting comfort and a good hope through grace,
17 comfort your hearts b and establish you in every good word and work.
